Denim Abstracts
Here’s a secret: My favorite color is blue. And if it is the blue of dark denim or the faded shade in well-worn jeans, all the better.
I take old pieces of clothing and incorporate them into my work. I love doing this. Not only is it great way to take things out of the landfill, but I love looking at a piece and seeing a memory - the tie that went to family events, the dress that traveled around Portugal, the denim of jeans that lounged around the house.
My collages mix denim with corduroys and suit pants, with cotton and wool. Each composition is utilitarian in nature, but still full of surprises and bits of color.
